About

Hi, my name is Leon Bahrman. I’m a spiritual teacher and Christian mystic. While true to my own Faith, I find inspiration across several spiritual traditions.

I understand what it is to be different and unique, and for this to be often misunderstood. I also know what it is to have questions that, after endless searching, never get answered. Traditional Paths meets you wherever you are in your journey, with real answers.

Spiritual growth, wholeness and mental health are very important. I share here what has been helpful toward my own journey and healing. This includes various spiritual or mystical practices learned through the years.

I am semi-retired, having worked 22 years in the semiconductor industry. Besides my spiritual pursuits, I’m also a copywriter, a blogger, a web-designer, an artist and a poet. My wife Valery and I are 30 years married. We live in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

What is Traditional Paths?

Traditional Paths is a place that reflects what has long been in my heart. I’ve always had an eclectic view toward religion, and I didn’t always understand why. I endured 9 years of spiritual abuse in a certain church fellowship. They were judgmental, controlling and exclusivist. By their bad example, I learned what Christianity and religion are not. In my own healing, however, I came to learn what religion is all about, Love.

Traditionalism is not syncretism or New Age. While we explore all faiths and paths, we don’t claim they’re all the same thing. We don’t play ‘Mr. Potato Head’ with God, our differences matter. Wisdom is within all religions; as such, we respect each tradition for what it is. Opposite of this, New Age seeks to undermine and destroy what a tradition is outwardly. It does this by making it conform to some manmade conglomerate in the name of unity.

When Christ came, He said that He came not to destroy the law and the prophets (that is, Judaism), but rather to fulfill. This is true of all religions and philosophies. Christ didn’t come to ‘kick down the door’ in some frontal assault, but rather to reveal Himself from within. We may very well disagree outwardly, but that’s okay. Instead, we can meet on a more mystical or esoteric level, inwardly, and find common ground. This isn’t religious pluralism as such, but we may call it interiorism
